The Jack Shites are a father and son outfit that hail from the Mekons' birthplace of Leeds. Formed by Tony Baker of Johnny Jumps the Bandwagon twelve years ago, when son Jack was sixteen years old, they recorded two lo-fi country-trash classics, 'Johnny Cash' and 'State I'm In', before deciding to go home to watch an episode of Coronation Street.

Now that the adverts are on, they've boarded the Mekonville Express, all fired up and ready to eschew any semblance of the virtuoso in favour of a three-chord thrash, relying solely on the fundamental rock'n'roll elements of guitar, drums and vocals, to make some sense of this crazy, post-truth world - and with the exception of the Legendary Stardust Cowboy, they're about as elemental as you can get.
